In accordance with the Cooperative Benefits Agreement Nisga’a Lisims Government (NLG) and Pretivm hosted a one-day conference for the Nisga’a Nation to speak on employment opportunities at the Brucejack Mine site. The event covered the life-cycle of the mine over a projected eighteen (18) years, job opportunities and how a culture of working on-site at Brucejack Mine is supported. The event as supported by Nisga’a Employment Skills & Training’s (NEST) under the 360 engagement platform was conducted as part of a Benefits Agreement for the wider Nation.

Overall, presentations covered project management and projected gold finds which included the financial opportunity from mining activities. Pretivm equally covered how its operation will protect the environment through practices ensuring sustainability to clean water and better land management practices. The event equally outlined how NEST can support resume writing and support for applying via Pretivm’s online application process. Presentations by NEST described local opportunities in the area and some of the other programs and services offered by Provincial and Federal funding.

The Pretivm event captured the importance of continued communication between employment strategies and employer partnerships. In striving for Nisga’a workforce inclusion and success it remains the responsibility of the NLG via NEST, companies such as Pretivm and Nisga’a citizens to connect and commit to longer term strategies that empower regional sustainability.

Highlights from the NEST 360 event:

85 Nisga’a Citizens attended the event in Terrace and 25 participated via livestream

The event fostered the opportunity for questions, dialogue and interaction with Pretivm, NLG and NEST staff

The Nisga’a in attendance are committed to employment, training and new opportunities

There was a consistent recommendation for a career & employment fair for Nisga’a

NEST would like to thank all participants that took part in the event, and we encourage everyone to connect with us on future events. Visit the NEST 360 engagement site at www.nest360.ca or join the conversation on Facebook.
