POSITION: Temporary Information Technology Technician
SALARY RANGE: Based on Qualification
SUPERVISOR: Information Technology Manager
HOURS: 21 hours a week (Wednesday to Friday) TERM: May to July 31, 2019 LOCATION: Gitlaxt’aamiks
Summary: The Information Technology Technician reports to the Information Technology Manager and assists in the execution of the organization’s IT plan as well as the development and maintenance of NLG’s information systems. The IT Technician troubleshoots end user issues and works with Information Technology Manager in the development of solutions. The IT Tech also liaises with vendors of IT equipment failure and maintains the inventory of devices.
DUTIES:
 Maintenance of NLG’s information systems
 Networking – troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity issues;
 Servers – create user accounts in Active Directory, reset passwords, adjust access to files and printers;
 Workstations – locate and install device drivers, install software applications and updates, connect to network drives and printers, physically set up workstations, diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues;
 Printers/copiers – install toner, drums, fusers, staples, paper and other consumables, file service requests with vendors, maintain supply inventories;
 Cell phones – install and configure cell phones, register them provider networks, and maintain inventory;
 Manage relationship with vendors of IT equipment;
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
 Minimum one year post-secondary education in a program relating to support of IT systems;
 Applicable Microsoft or CompTIA certification an asset;
 Experience working in an IT department providing support is an asset;
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
 Strong written and verbal communication skills;
 Able to manage a workload including multiple and competing demands;
 Highly organized, structured with attention to detail;
 Able to analyze and troubleshoot end user issues;
 Able to foster effective working relationships with employees, external agencies and vendors;
 Possess a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
OTHER:
The successful candidate will be required to complete/provide:
 Three recent work related references;
 Valid BC Drivers’ License an asset.
