SUMMER STUDENT WORKER

Kalum Community School Society

Kalum Community School Society (KCSS) is seeking expressions of interest for summer student positions. These positions are funded through the Canada Summer Jobs grants. KCSS has three positions available; two working in the gardens project and one in our Food Security programming. Positions start June 9, 2018 and run for a minimum duration of 8 weeks with a wage of $16.35 / hr. Minimum weekly hours are 30 hrs / wk. Some evening and weekend shifts are required.

Canada Summer Jobs requires participants to be:

(a) between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
(b) registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
(c) intending to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
(d) a student in a secondary, post-secondary, CEGEP (Quebec only), vocational or technical program;
(e) a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been
conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
(f) legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations
*Foreign students are not eligible.

These are career related positions and will target students interested / accepted in Human Service
programs. Time will be allotted to prepare students for studies in the Human Services. Priority is given to students with disabilities, Indigenous students, students who are members of visible minorities and students who are new immigrants/refugees.

Skills required:
Good interpersonal skills
Drivers Licence Class 5
Food safe preferred
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Good physical fitness is an asset
